Day TourTasman Peninsula

Departing Hobart, we’ll travel through the scenic Coal River Valley, a region renowned for its picturesque vineyards and farmlands, and stop briefly in the town of Richmond (known as Australia’s best-preserved colonial village). Then, onward to the Tasman Peninsula.

At Pirate’s Bay Lookout we’ll take in the sweeping views of the rugged sea cliffs and coastline from Eaglehawk Neck to Cape Huay. Our first taste of the Tasman National Park is an easy scenic cliff-top walk to Waterfall Bay, named for the waterfalls cascading down the towering cliff faces into the sea. We’ll also experience the geological wonders of Tasman Arch, and the Devil’s Kitchen which are shaped by the powerful Southern Ocean.

Our next walk starts from the impressive Remarkable Cave, with Australia’s highest sea cliffs at Cape Raoul, visible in distance. This achievable return walk to Crescent Bay provides all the good feels of wilderness, and on a clear day, Tasman Island and Cape Pillar offer dramatic coastal landscapes visible from the sandy shores of Crescent Bay. Relax, climb the steep sand dunes, or frolic on the shore before making your way back to the start.

Throughout the day we’ll look for wedge-tailed eagles, dolphins, and other wildlife. This tour is best suited to persons with moderate walking fitness, although persons who seek a slower-paced day are easily accommodated.
