Itinerary

Day 1Arriving at Hobart

Ausasia welcomes you to Hobart, the beautiful capital city of Tasmania, having made your own way to your hotel to check in. Relax and enjoy the rest of the day to explore your hotel and its facilities. You are invited to join fellow travellers at the welcome dinner in the evening who will join our tour of the beautiful island of Tasmania.

Day 2Port Arthur

After breakfast we will head to Tasman Peninsula to visit the Port Arthur Historic Site situated southeast of Hobart. Port Arthur is amongst the best-preserved convict settlements in Australia and among the most significant convict era sites in the world. We will take a 30-minute guided walking tour of historic buildings and ruins, enjoy a short harbour cruise passing the Isle of the Dead where you will experience a feel for what it was like in the convict era. On your way to Port Arthur, you will see the natural wonders of Tasman Peninsular such as the Tessellated Pavement, Tasman Arch, Blowhole, Devils Kitchen, and the Remarkable Cave.

Day 3Salamanca - Half day city tour

Now is the time to explore the city of Hobart, which includes the birthplace of Hobart – Battery Point, Salamanca Place, the oldest brewery in Australia and travel to kunanyi/Mount Wellington, where you will experience the spectacular views of Hobart and surrounds. On your return from the mountain lunch can be enjoyed, at your own expense, in Salamanca Place where there are many renowned restaurants. The Salamanca Market will also be open where you can meet over 300 stallholders and find a large collections of locally made products for sale.

Day 4Hobart - Richmond - Freycinet National Park - Bicheno

Following breakfast and hotel check out; We will head to the East Coast of Tasmania. On the way, exploring historical Richmond, and early Australian colonial village. The tour of East Coast and Freycinet National Park contains unforgettable scenic spots, including Cape Tourville, Honeymoon Bay, Coles Bay. We will take a short, steep climb to the saddle between Mt Amos and Mt Mayson, from where, a side-track leads to a new lookour, with one of Tasmania’s most celebrated views over the beautiful white sands of Wineglass Bay. We will then head further along the East Coast to visit Natureworld where you can meet and interact with Tasmania animals.

Day 5The Town of Ross - Velo Wines - Launceston

Enjoy your free time morning to walk around the seaside at Bicheno. We will continue our journey to Launceston, the third oldest city in Australia via Ross, where the beauty of Australian’s third oldest bridge can be seen. Leaving Ross, we will head to Launceston and travel down the West Tamar to visit Velo Winery for a wine tasting. Heading back to Launceston, we will visit the Cataract Gorge, where you will find walking and hiking trails, the world’s longest single span chairlift, peacocks and wildlife, suspension bridge, and lookouts with spectacular views.

Day 6Sheffield - Cradle Mountain

Leaving Launceston prior to exploring the World Heritage Cradle Mountain National Park, we will stop at Sheffield – the town of murals. Here you can read the story related to each mural on the many buildings. Cradle Mountain is spectacular and a must see and is the start of the Overland Track. Enjoy the pristine air with a stunning walk around Dove Lake or Challenge yourself with an unguided hike to view Cradle Mountain. Following lunch, we will travel to Launceston airport. It is time to say goodbye and wish you have a safe return to your home.

Day 7Gordon River Cruise

The Gordon River Lunch Cruise is the highlight of the day on the Gordon River. Exploring the Tasmania Wilderness World Heritage area, visiting Sarah Island and discovering the lesser known convict history. You will enjoy local Tasmania foods and beverages at lunch. This will be one of your memorable trips. The remainder of the day when you return to Strahan can be spent at your own leisure.

Day 8Strahan - Lake St Clair - Mt Field - Hobart

Following breakfast and check out from the hotel, we will travel to the southern end of Cradle Mountain to Lake St Clair National Park. Here you will see the natural setting of the deepest freshwater lake in Australia. Following this we will visit Mt Field National Park, take a walk-through the rainforest to see and experience the wonder of the Russell Falls before heading back to Hobart.

Day 9Hobart - airport

Following breakfast, it is time to say goodbye. You will make your own way to Hobart airport and we thank you for your company and wish you a safe return to your home.
