Leave behind the bustle of Auckland city and relax on our afternoon Auckland wine tour and taste the wines of Kumeu Wine Country, Auckland’s Heritage Wine Region. We take care of the driving while you sample some wonderful wines, enjoy lunch at a fabulous vineyard restaurant and check out the stunning countryside the area is famous for. All of this is only a short 20 minute drive from central Auckland!
Even if you have never done a wine tour or been wine tasting before our guides make it a relaxed and enjoyable experience for a great afternoon out.
Your first stop is at Soljans Vineyard for a wine tasting. Soljans is a small family owned winery which started in 1937 and produces a range or whites, red, sparkling and of course their famous port.
After your wine tasting we have lunch at The Bistro restaurant at Soljans where their chef showcases fresh local produce to create an ever changing seasonal menu. Your lunch also includes a glass of wine.
A short drive through beautiful countryside takes us to our next winery which is West Brook Winery. The West Brook cellar door looks across a beautiful pond and terraced picnic area to row after row of grape vines. Their wines reflect their unique regional origins and are produced by one of New Zealand’s leading wine makers. West Brook wines are premium quality and have won numerous awards.
Our next stop is Muriwai beach which is one of the region’s special places. We make a stop to get amazing views along the coast and talk about what makes the west coast Auckland beaches unique. From September to mid April you will also have the chance to see one of the world’s largest seabirds in their natural environment because between those months Muriwai is home to one of the few mainland gannet nesting sites in the world. The nests are on the cliff-tops overlooking the Tasman Sea so you get a close-up view of the gannet colony without disturbing them. *
Our final stop is at Coopers Creek Winery which offers outstanding wines from New Zealand’s best grape growing regions. Coopers Creek produce a wide variety of wines and are adventurous in their choice of grapes and blends so you may well taste some wines you may never have tried before!
